The US resumes flights after a computer failure that has paralyzed the country for several hours

Thousands of flights throughout the United States have had to be temporarily or permanently suspended this Wednesday morning after a computer failure in the country’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) system that has already been fixed.

All planes have thus had to stay on the ground until further notice, causing widespread chaos at the country’s airports despite the commitment of the authorities to work to resolve the incident as soon as possible.

The FAA itself has indicated in a statement that its Air Mission Alert (NOTAM) has “failed” throughout the morning. This is an alert that contains essential information for the workers who operate the flights. “Operations throughout the national airspace have been affected,” the FAA stressed.

Later, the agency itself confirmed on its official Twitter profile the “gradual” restoration of flights in the United States. “We are continuing to investigate the cause of the initial problem,” the Federal Aviation Administration has confirmed.

The authorities estimate that more than 4,000 flights have been affected and have suffered delays in many parts of the country, while some 700 have been directly cancelled, which has raised controversy among passengers, according to the NBC News television network. .

The president of the country, Joe Biden, has indicated that he has had a conversation with the Minister of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, who has confirmed that at the moment “the causes” of the ruling are unknown, according to a brief note from the White House.

“I have spoken with him, I have asked him to inform me directly as soon as they know what has happened. They do not know what has happened, but they hope to find out within a period of a few hours to be able to take the necessary measures,” he stressed.
