The health authorities of the Dominican Republic have detected this Saturday the first case of the omicron variant of the coronavirus in their territory in a person who entered the country from South Africa.
The person has presented “mild symptoms, has received outpatient care and is evolving satisfactorily,” as indicated by the Ministry of Public Health of the Dominican Republic in a statement.
Likewise, the Dominican health authorities have reported an alert from the National Liaison Center for International Health Regulations of Chile that has notified “a case that traveled from the DR to Chile and upon arrival in Chile tested positive for the omicron variant.”
Now the authorities are working on the epidemiological investigation of the case and the contacts it may have had in the country.
