The Department of Health of the US state of Florida has confirmed this Saturday 188 new deaths from the coronavirus, a record of daily deaths, and more than 10,300 additional cases in the last 24 hours. In this context, the Disney World theme park in Orlando has reopened its doors after 160 days of closure.
The previous record for daily deaths was recorded on July 9, with 120 deaths.
Adding these deaths, the coronavirus pandemic has left a total of 4,197 deaths in the state. The 10,360 new cases bring the total number of infections to about 254,000.
This balance coincides with the opening of the large Disney World theme park in Orlando for the first time in 160 days.
Disney has warned that “there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where there are people present” and indicates to its visitors that “they voluntarily assume all the risks related to the park,” as reported on its website.
