Benzema: “It’s me and only me who will put an end to my international career”

Real Madrid player Karim Benzema said that no one will decide on his international future after the words of Noël Le Graët, president of the French Football Federation (FFF), who said that the white striker has “finished” his “adventure” with France.

“Noël, I thought you did not interfere in the coach’s decisions! Know that it is me and only I who will put an end to my international career,” Benzema replied through his official Twitter account.

“If you think I’m finished, let me play with one of the countries for which I am eligible and we’ll see,” added Benzema, who was removed from the French national team four years ago after being involved in the ‘Valbuena case’.

The Real Madrid striker was accused of extorting midfielder Mathieu Valbuena with a video of a sexual nature. Since that event in 2015, Benzema has not received the call from French coach Didier Deschamps.

Benzema has been international with France on 81 occasions, scoring 27 goals. This season, it is Pichichi of LaLiga Santander with Real Madrid, after scoring 9 goals in the first 13 days – and with one game less for the postponement of the Classic.
