LOS ANGELES – Hunter Renfroe hit a home run that gave the tiebreaker in the eighth inning and the San Diego Padres beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 on Friday.
Left-hander Clayton Kershaw threw seven good innings for the Dodgers, but the loss snapped his nine-game winning streak at home.
Eric Lauer faced Enrique Hernández when the earthquake occurred in the fourth inning. Lauer’s first three pitches in the at-bat, including two strikes, occurred during the tremor that baffled some attendees at the stadium.
The 26th home run by Renfroe against Dominican Yimi García (1-3) came with two outs.
Craig Stammen (6-4) got the victory as reliever and Kirby Yates got his 28th save.
For the Padres, Dominicans Francisco Mejía 4-1; and Manuel Margot 3-0.
