The power company Florida Power & Light (FPL) announced today the acquisition of the largest solar power plant in the south of the state and unveiled its plans to manufacture 30 million solar panels by 2030.
FPL will celebrate the purchase of the Miami-Dade Solar Energy Center on February 12 in a ceremony attended by the mayor of the aforementioned county, Carlos Giménez, the president of the electricity company, Eric Silagy, and the director of the environmental group Audubon, Celeste of Palma, among others.
The project is part of a partnership established between FPL and Miami-Dade County to “promote innovative energy projects that help improve the community’s resilience,” FPL said in a statement.
The company plans to “turn Florida into the world leader in solar energy production.”
With the purchase of the solar energy plant Miami-Dade Solar Energy Center, which has 300,000 solar panels, FPL will have a total of 18 operational facilities with this type of clean energy.
FPL “continues to advance in the incorporation of affordable clean energy, while maintaining the bills of its customers at the lowest levels of the state and the nation,” added the electric.
FPL noted that business “expansion” through solar energy plays an “important role in the future strategy of the company.”
Together with his sister NextEra Energy Resources, FPL is the world’s largest producer of renewable energy from wind and sun, and when the so-called “30 by 30” plan is completed the company expects to be the largest owner of public services and operator of solar energy in America. (EFEUSA) .-
