Joan Manuel Serrat returns to Mexico in February with his “Mediterráneo da capo”

Catalan singer-songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat will return to Mexico to perform from February 7 at the Palacio de Bellas Artes as part of his “Mediterráneo da Capo” tour, which began this month in Barcelona.

In a statement, the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA) confirmed the details of the poet’s stay in Mexico to remember his eighth studio album, “Mediterráneo”, which according to his own creator is his most emblematic album.


Serrat, who will turn 75 tomorrow, has a long relationship of affection with Mexico since he set foot in the country in 1969, and especially since 1975, when he went into exile after condemning the Franco regime.

After Franco’s death he received an amnesty and arrived in Spain in August 1976 amid a massive reception.


“Here in Mexico, I found my home,” he said four years ago on a visit to a country where he is considered a cult author, able to fill the National Auditorium for several nights in a row, with a capacity for 10,000 people, whenever it is presented. in the Mexican capital, and with equal acceptance in the states.

Composed of 10 pieces, “Mediterráneo” was around a year in the list of the 10 best selling albums in Spain and marked a generation of Latin Americans who, not satisfied with singing the album songs for years, taught them to their children and then their grandchildren.

“Mediterranean”, “Those little things”, “The woman I love”, “White people”, “Uncle Alberto”, “What will become of you”, “Lucia”, “Vagabundear”, “Paper boat” and “Vencidos” will be sung in February by Serrat, who according to the organizers of the concert will address other moments of his career in his presentation.

“Once again, the Palace of Fine Arts will welcome the singer-songwriter born in Barcelona, ​​who will offer a musical journey that promises to bring to the present the strength, ingenuity and quality of a material considered one of the best of the 20th century, in Spanish “, said the INBA today in a statement.

Serrat will be presented in the main hall of Fine Arts on days 7, 9, 14, 16 and 17 of February. He will soon sing in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Tenerife to begin the Latin American part of the tour in the Dominican cities of Santiago de los Caballeros and Santo Domingo, and in the Puerto Rican San Juan.

In addition to singing in Mexico City, in the country Catalan will also perform in Puebla, Guadalajara and Monterrey, after which it will do so in New York and Miami, in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Colombia and Ecuador. EFEUSA) .-
