US Department of Housing authorizes Puerto Rico to use funds for disaster recovery

US Department of Housing authorizes Puerto Rico to use funds for disaster recovery The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, announced today that the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) authorized the use of funds of the Community Development Program with a Determined Subsidy for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR, in English).

Confirmation for the use of funds came during a conversation yesterday between the first executive and HUD Deputy Secretary Pamela Hughes, who announced his resignation for next year.

“We have worked hard to present the work plans for the reconstruction process in Puerto Rico, as we established, we are very advanced in this process and this important disbursement is proof of the trust and credibility that we have built.

We appreciate the confidence of HUD and very soon we will announce the first projects where the CDBG funds will be used, “the governor said in a statement.

In addition, the chief executive said that “the undersecretary has been a very special person for the people of Puerto Rico, and in deciding to distance herself from public service, the entire nation loses one of the most distinguished, transparent and passionate civil servants.”

Finally, Rosselló thanked him for “his friendship, his hard work, as well as his commitment and guidance, in Puerto Rico, he will always have a family, thanks for your service!”.

The governor also indicated that, as a result of his meeting in HUD last Thursday in the federal capital will be made other decisions related to the orders that the Government of Puerto Rico has made and which will be announced soon. (EFEUSA) .-
