Universal works on a film inspired by Prince’s songs

The Universal Pictures studio is working on a film whose plot would be inspired by Prince’s most famous songs, Variety media reported today.

Instead of a biographical tape (“biopic”, in English), Universal has acquired the rights to some themes of Prince to build from them the narrative thread of this film.
Sources close to the project consider that the film “Purple Rain” (1984), starring Prince, already told the story of the rise of a humble musician to stardom, so his intention now is to use the songs of the genius of Minneapolis. way similar to what he did “Mamma Mia!” (2008) with the successes of ABBA.

Unquestionable figure of pop and renovador of black music in the 80s thanks to masterpieces such as “Purple Rain” (1984) and “Sign o ‘The Times” (1987), Prince died in 2016 at 57 years of age due to an overdose of opiates.

Musicals or films inspired by the world of music have seduced the public in recent years with such popular examples as “La La Land” (2016), “The Greatest Showman” (2017) or the “biopic” of Queen “Bohemian” Rhapsody “(2018).

Also, Disney will premiere in two weeks “Mary Poppins Returns”, sequel to the musical classic “Mary Poppins” (1964) and this time starring Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda. (EFEUSA) .-
