Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello has accused U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio of being a “clown” with “delusions” and threatened to “annihilate” those who decide to attack the Caribbean nation.
“He’s going to crash and burn, just like many clowns who have had the audacity to intervene in Venezuela,” Cabello asserted, describing Rubio as the most “incompetent” U.S. official in history. “He doesn’t understand the mettle of Venezuelans, their history, and their capacity for resistance,” he said.
In this regard, he emphasized that “U.S. imperialism is trying to use the same formula it applied to invade Iraq, Syria, and other countries, using lies to discredit the nation and justify its actions,” according to reports from the Globovisión television network.
“Remember the lies about Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan. The United States intervened in all those places with lies; they tried to stage the same script in our country, but the world doesn’t believe them,” he asserted.
He also argued that the United States changed its “discursive strategy because the previous accusations failed, revealing its true interests.” “The United States no longer talks about drug trafficking, the Cartel of the Suns, or terrorism because those arguments fell apart,” he maintained.
Cabello asserted that the “true objective of the U.S. narrative is to steal Venezuela’s natural resources under the pretext of regime change and accusations about the existence of a dictatorship,” he said.
However, he downplayed the actions of the Tren de Aragua gang and accused the United States of “using it as propaganda.” He further compared the narrative surrounding this group to the discourse on “weapons of mass destruction” that they used in the past to justify the invasion of Iraq.
