Iran Raises Death Toll from Israeli Offensive to Nearly 630

Iranian authorities have put the death toll from Israeli army attacks at nearly 630 since June 13, when Israeli forces launched their offensive against the Central Asian country, before stating that more than 4,800 people were injured by Israeli bombings.

Iranian Health Ministry spokesman Hosein Kermanpur stated on his social media account X that 627 “martyrs” and 4,870 wounded have been confirmed so far, before emphasizing that the capital, Tehran, is the city with the highest number of casualties.

He also specified that 86.1 percent of the fatalities died at the scene of the attacks, while 13.9 percent died after being taken to hospitals, “which demonstrates the depth of the destruction” caused by the Israeli bombings.

The conflict erupted on June 13, when Israel launched a military offensive against Iran—which responded by firing missiles and drones—and was followed on Sunday by the United States with a series of bombings against three Iranian nuclear facilities. Iran responded by launching a missile attack against a US base in Qatar, for which it gave Washington advance notice and which resulted in no casualties. The parties finally reached a ceasefire early Tuesday.
