Trump and Musk will hold a press conference this Friday on their “last day” in the US government

US President Donald Trump has announced that he will hold a press conference this Friday with magnate Elon Musk, to mark his departure from the government, where he heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The president announced on his Truth Social platform that the joint appearance will take place this Friday at 1:30 p.m. (local time, 7:30 p.m. CET) in the Oval Office of the White House.

“It will be his last day, but not really, because he will always be with us, helping us every step of the way. Elon is fantastic!” he emphasized.

The South African billionaire announced the end of his tenure as a “special government employee” on Wednesday, just one day after admitting to being “disappointed” with Trump’s tax reform bill, considering it insufficient and putting his job at the head of the controversial ministry at risk.

“I would like to thank President Donald Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” he added on his social media account, asserting that DOGE “will grow stronger over time as it becomes a way of life across the government.”

In April, faced with a sharp drop of more than 71 percent in profits at his company, Tesla, Musk announced that he would limit his work as a government advisor.
