Authorities denounce a conspiracy orchestrated by “criminal organizations” linked to sectors “defeated” in the elections
The Ecuadorian Government declared a state of “maximum alert” this Saturday after denouncing the “planning of an assassination” against the country’s president, Daniel Noboa, and other authorities by “criminal organizations” linked to sectors “defeated at the polls,” a veiled reference to presidential candidate Luisa González, who has alleged electoral fraud in last week’s elections.
“The State is on maximum alert. All security protocols have been activated, and the Armed Forces, the National Police, and intelligence agencies are working together to neutralize any threat,” the Ecuadorian Ministry of Government announced in a statement titled “The Revenge of the Bad Losers.”
In the statement, the Ministry, citing intelligence sources, denounces “the plotting of an assassination, terrorist attacks, and street violence through violent demonstrations” against “the life of the President of the Republic, state authorities, and public officials.”
“It is deplorable that criminal organizations, in complicity with political groups defeated at the polls, seek to impose chaos through violence, fear, and terror,” the Ministry adds, referring to González.
After denouncing that “these actions not only seek to destabilize the government, but also to undermine democracy, sovereignty, the peace of Ecuador, and the rule of law,” the Ecuadorian government warns that it will respond “with all its force.”
“We prevail and we will prevail. With faith in God and the strength of the state, we will bring every criminal to their knees. They spread death. We protect life, democracy, and freedom,” the government concludes.
