Zelensky Calls on the US to Put “More Pressure” on Russia After Recent Hours’ Attacks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has denounced the attacks launched in recent hours by the Russian Armed Forces as “a clear signal” that the Kremlin does not want to move toward “real peace” despite theoretical ceasefire negotiations. He has therefore appealed directly to the United States for “more pressure” and “more sanctions.”

“There must be clear pressure and decisive action from the world toward Russia (…) to stop the attacks,” Zelensky demanded on social media, where he lamented the 117 drones launched on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, “117 proof of how Russia continues to prolong this war.”

In this regard, he took stock of the “massive” bombings that have also targeted civilian targets, including homes and shops, in various regions.

Zelensky recalled that a US proposal for a “total” ceasefire, for a “complete cessation of attacks,” has been on the table since March 11, but he does not see Moscow willing to take steps in this direction. “Literally every night, Russia continues to say ‘no’ to our partners’ peace proposal,” he emphasized.

Trump has accelerated diplomatic contacts with Kyiv and Moscow since his return to the White House in January, which this week resulted in a round of meetings in Saudi Arabia that, according to the parties’ reports on Tuesday, opened the door to an agreement to achieve “safe navigation” in the Black Sea.

However, the Kremlin has warned that this hypothetical breakthrough is also conditioned by other types of gestures, particularly a review of the sanctions that prevent the sale of agricultural products and fertilizers on international markets.
