White House to allow “independent journalists” and influencers to obtain press accreditation

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt announced on Tuesday that “independent journalists,” podcasters, influencers or content creators will be able to obtain accreditation to attend press conferences during President Donald Trump’s term.

“We welcome independent journalists, podcasters, social media influencers and content creators to apply for credentials to cover this White House,” Leavitt said at her first press conference.

In this regard, she stressed that “millions of Americans, especially young people, have stopped watching traditional media and newspapers to consume news through podcasts, blogs, social media and other independent media.”

The White House spokeswoman explained that they will enable a seat in the press room that will be called “the new media seat.” He also said that his team “will work to restore the press passes” cancelled for nearly 440 journalists during the term of former US President Joe Biden. “This White House firmly believes in the First Amendment,” he said.

Leavitt also said that “lies” have been promoted by the traditional media about Trump and his family. “We are not going to accept that. We will denounce it when we consider that their information is incorrect or that there is misinformation about this White House,” he added.
