The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, has thanked this Saturday the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, for her “unwavering support” after the fires that have affected the city of Los Angeles, in the state of California, which have devastated thousands of hectares and caused the death of at least 16 people.
“(Up to) 72 firefighters and emergency personnel have arrived from Mexico to help respond to the Los Angeles fires,” Newsom said on his X social media account.
“Emergencies have no borders and we are deeply grateful to the president for her unwavering support during one of California’s greatest times of need.
At least 16 people have died from the out-of-control fires that are destroying entire neighborhoods in the city of Los Angeles, in the US state of California, US authorities reported on Saturday.
The largest fire, the Palisades fire, has burned more than 22,000 acres, destroyed thousands of structures and is 11% contained. The Eaton fire in Altadena now spans more than 14,100 acres and is 15% contained. More than 100,000 people are under evacuation orders.
