At least 50 people have been killed, including five medical workers, in the attacks carried out by the Israeli army on a building adjacent to the Kamal Aduan Hospital, located in the town of Beit Lahia, in the north of the Gaza Strip, according to the Gazan authorities, controlled by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
The Ministry of Health has explained that among the dead are a pediatrician, identified as Ahmed Samur, and a laboratory technician, Israa abu Zaida, who died while trying to return to their homes. Another technician, Fares al Hudali, died while trying to rescue the wounded.
Israeli fighter planes have also killed two paramedics, Abdul Mayid abu al Aish and Maher al Ajrami. “Their bodies are still in the street,” reads a statement published by the ministry through its Telegram channel.
Finally, it has called on the international community to intervene “urgently” to protect civilians and health sector workers.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry denounced hours earlier that a doctor from the same hospital was injured after the Israeli Army “blew up a robot” in front of the medical center, stressing that the hospital “and the rest of the health system continue to be the target of attacks.” “.
In this regard, the press office of the Gazan authorities stressed that “the Israeli occupation uses explosive robots to attack civilians and critical facilities,” in what it described as “war crimes” and “flagrant violations of international law.”
In recent days, there have been several attacks against the Kamal Aduan Hospital, which also denounced orders to evacuate staff and patients. The Gazan health system has suffered enormous damage from Israel’s attacks, amid international alerts about their impact on an already serious humanitarian crisis.
The Israeli Army launched its offensive against the Gaza Strip after the attacks carried out on October 7, 2023 by Hamas and other Palestinian factions, which left some 1,200 dead and nearly 250 kidnapped, according to the balance sheets provided by the Israeli government.
The Israeli offensive has already left nearly 45,400 Palestinians dead in the enclave, according to the Gazan authorities, while around 810 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and in settler attacks since then in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
