Six people from the same family killed in Israeli bombing of Lebanon

Hezbollah attacks “enemy forces” with dozens of projectiles in southern Lebanon and northern Israel

At least six people, all women and children from the same family, were killed on Monday by an Israeli army bombing of the Lebanese city of Baalbek, located in the east of the country, as part of the invasion unleashed nearly three weeks ago.

According to information collected by the Lebanese state news agency, NNA, all the fatalities are members of a family who were in a house hit by two missiles early in the day, without Israel having commented on the attack.

Israel has assured that during the last few hours it has bombed “dozens” of buildings supposedly linked to the Al Qadr al Hassan Association, considered the financial wing of the Shiite party-militia Hezbollah, including targets in southern Lebanon and in the capital, Beirut.

“These funds, used for terrorist activities, were stored in buildings of the Al Qadr al Hassan Association, which directly finances Hezbollah’s terrorist activities, including the purchase of weapons and the payment of salaries to its operatives in the military wing,” he said.

He also assured that he had taken “many steps” to reduce collateral casualties before carrying out the bombings, amid complaints about the high number of civilian victims and the destruction of his bombing campaign against Lebanese territory.

Along these lines, he stressed that during the day he had “eliminated” “many terrorists” from Hezbollah in his attacks against the group’s targets, without the group having yet commented on possible casualties in its ranks in these bombings.

For its part, Hezbollah has carried out several rocket attacks against “enemy forces” in the north of Israel and in the south of Lebanon during the last few hours. The Israeli army has confirmed the launch of “about 25” rockets, some of which have hit its territory, with no reports of casualties.

The Israeli army launched a new invasion of Lebanon on October 1 after several weeks of intense bombings and attacks against the country, including the coordinated explosion of thousands of communication devices, after more than eleven months of fighting with Hezbollah.

The upsurge in hostilities is part of the clashes that have been going on for nearly a year, after Hezbollah attacked Israeli territory a day after the attacks carried out on October 7, 2023 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions, which led Israel to unleash a bloody offensive against the Gaza Strip.
