Georgia sees record turnout in early voting for presidential election

Authorities in the state of Georgia (United States) have recorded record turnout on Tuesday during early voting for the presidential election in November with more than 328,000 votes, which is more than double that of 2020.

“So, with the first day of early voting, which has broken records, and the acceptance of absentee ballots, we have cast more than 328,000 votes in total so far,” said Gabe Sterling, a member of the Office of the Secretary of State of Georgia on his account on the social network X.

Georgia is one of the key states for these elections, and former President Donald Trump lost there by a difference of 11,779 votes in the previous elections, which led the tycoon and his team to try to pressure to overturn the state results, which has led to an indictment.

Both Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have campaigned intensely in the state due to the huge dispute that exists there, with the former president leading the latest polls by just one percentage point.
