Biden confirms that he will remain president of the United States for the next six months

The president justifies his withdrawal from the presidential race because “the best way to move forward is to pass the torch to a new generation.”

The president of the United States, Joe Biden, confirmed this Wednesday in his speech to the nation that he will continue in office for the next six months, at which time American citizens will elect the country’s new leader in elections in which the Former President Donald Trump is expected to face off against Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Over the next six months, I will focus on doing my job as president. That means I will continue to lower prices for working families and grow our economy. I will continue to defend our personal freedoms and our civil rights, from the right to vote, to the right to choose –in reference to abortion–“, he expressed during his speech.

Biden has justified his decision to withdraw from the White House race for a second term because “the defense of democracy is more important than any personal ambition”, and that he believes it is “time” to give way to “voices” younger, in reference to Harris, whom he has described as “experienced”, “strong”, “capable” and a “great partner” for both him and the country.

“I have decided that the best way forward is to pass the torch to a new generation. It is the best way to unite our nation (…) It’s not about me, it’s about you, your families, your future “It’s about us, the people. We can never forget that, and I never have. I have made it clear that I believe America is at a turning point,” he added.

Based on this, Biden has expressed that citizens will have to choose “between advancing or retreating, between hope and hate, between unity and division”, and has asked “to see those with whom we disagree not as enemies, but as companions.

WILL CONTINUE TO DEFEND HIS LEGACY
The president has guaranteed that he will continue to defend his ideals during the remainder of his term, highlighting the defense of civil rights, complaints against “hatred and extremism”, against political violence, against armed violence and against the climate crisis. .

Likewise, he has promised reform of the Supreme Court at a time when the judicial body endorsed Trump’s partial immunity during his period as president.

At the international level, he has boasted that the United States “is not in any war” and that he will continue to move forward with the international coalition to “prevent (Russian President Vladimir) Putin from taking over Ukraine and doing more damage,” which will fight to continue strengthening NATO, to prevent China from overtaking the United States and to end the war in the Gaza Strip to allow the release of the hostages and “bring peace” to the Middle East region, and which will continue “working tirelessly” so that Americans “unjustly detained around the world” can return home.

Biden has also shown his chest about his work in the Oval Office, recalling that when he took office the country was “in the grip of the worst pandemic of the century”, in “the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression” and in the “worst attack to democracy since the Civil War”.

“We are more prosperous and more secure. Today we have the strongest economy in the world, with a record creation of almost 16 million new jobs. Wages are up. Inflation continues to fall. The racial wealth gap is the lowest of the last 20 years. We are literally rebuilding our entire nation,” he added.

Biden’s decision to withdraw from the presidential race came after weeks of pressure and doubts about his ability to defeat his rival, former President Donald Trump, following his erratic performance in the June 27 televised debate, which generated doubts within his party about the possibility that he could achieve a victory at the polls and, in this way, reissue his mandate in the White House.
