Russia warns of the risk of “direct confrontation” with NATO over the use of US drones in the Black Sea

The Russian Ministry of Defense has indicated in a statement published on its Telegram account that there has recently been “an increase in the intensity of flights by United States unmanned aerial vehicles in the Black Sea” and has maintained that “they lead to carry out reconnaissance and target designation tasks for high-precision weapons delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine by Western countries to attack Russian targets.”

“This points to the growing involvement of the United States and NATO countries in the conflict in Ukraine, on the side of the Kiev regime,” he said, before insisting that “these flights greatly increase the probability of incidents in the airspace with aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces”.

In this sense, he has warned that “this raises the risk of a direct confrontation between the Alliance and Russia” and has revealed that the Russian Defense Minister, Andrei Belousov, “has ordered the General Staff of the Armed Forces to carry out proposals for measures to respond quickly to provocations.”

On the other hand, the Ministry of Defense has assured that during the last hours Russian forces have shot down 25 drones launched by the Ukrainian Armed Forces against Russian territory. Thus, he has detailed that twelve were intercepted in Bryansk, to which are added nine in Smolensk, two in Kursk and one in Voronezh and Rostov.

Moscow has stated that “the Kiev regime has attempted to carry out terrorist attacks using unmanned aerial devices against the territory of the Russian Federation”, while declining to comment on possible victims or material damage due to this new wave of attacks. by Ukrainian troops.
