The ‘road show’, a historic day for F1 and Barcelona

Carlos Sainz led the show in the streets of the city before 40,000 spectators

The Formula 1 Barcelona Fan Festival held this Wednesday the ‘road show’ and the Fan Forum, a show in the main streets of the city with 40,000 people who vibrated with the World Cup cars and the Spanish driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari).

In addition, the ‘road show’ featured BWT Alpine test driver Jack Doohan, a young promise of F1 and son of the legendary five-time 500cc motorcycling world champion, Mick Doohan, as representatives of the premier category. On the other hand, the Catalans from the Campos Racing team Pepe Martí (Formula 2) and Mari Boya (Formula 3) were present.

The cars left Ronda Universitat, where the teams’ pits were located. They then headed north and continued along Paseo de Gracia, going up to Casa Batlló (before reaching Aragó Street) to turn south again to the starting point.

After the exhibition, the drivers went to the Fan Forum, and on the stage of the Fan Village in Plaza Catalunya they shared their feelings before the start of the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix, which is being held this week at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

The president and CEO of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali, and some of the members of the F1 Academy such as Nerea Martí, Emely de Heus, Hamda and Amna Al Qubaisi and Maya Weug, as well as the former drivers, also participated in the Fan Forum. of F1 Pedro de la Rosa and Marc Gené.

“I want to thank you because seeing so many people here in the center of Barcelona is wonderful. This energy and enthusiasm for Formula 1 is what we always want to see around the world, so thank you very much. I am convinced that we will have a Spectacular Grand Prix where we will see all of you supporting your idols,” said Domenicali.

“What a pleasure to see so many people and so many fans following us. I hope to be able to dedicate a victory to all of them this weekend at the Circuit. Nothing would make me more excited than to be able to win at home, since last year we were very close but we couldn’t finish the race. Today is something unique and a great appetizer for the weekend that awaits us,” said Sainz.
