New York fines Trump 454 million for fraud

Former US President Donald Trump was sentenced this Friday to pay a fine of 454 million dollars (about 419 million euros) by order of a New York judge for a case of fraud in the valuation of the assets of the Trump Organization. CNN has reported.

This sentence, which was handed down by Judge Arthur Engoron, was made public this Friday, a week after the former president and two of his sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, were found guilty of fraud in the civil case. presented by New York Attorney General Letita James.

From the moment Justice notifies Trump of the decision, the Republican candidate for the presidential elections will have 30 days to file appeals. However, during that time he will have to contribute – through bonds or in cash – the 355 million dollars (about 328 million euros) that the court originally ordered as bail and another 100 million dollars (just over 92 million euros) additional interest.

For their part, each of Donald Trump’s children was ordered to return four million dollars (3.69 million euros) of the profits improperly received as a result of the fraud.

Finally, CNN reports, the judge also prohibited the Trumps from holding positions as officials of commercial entities in New York for several years. Trump has said he will appeal.
