Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley questioned the mental fitness of her biggest opponent, former President Donald Trump, after he apparently confused her with former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi when talking about the attack. January 6, 2021 to the United States Capitol.
“Last night, Trump was at a rally and he keeps mentioning to me multiple times why I didn’t take safety measures during the Capitol riot. Why I didn’t drive better on January 6. I wasn’t even in (Washington) DC on January 6. “I wasn’t in office then,” Haley said and CNN reported it.
“They say he got confused. That he was talking about something else. That he was talking about Nancy Pelosi. He mentioned me several times on that stage,” added the former governor of South Carolina.
In her speech to a crowd of voters in the state of New Hampshire, Haley assured that to be president you need someone who is mentally fit. “The concern I have is… I’m not saying anything derogatory, but when it comes to the pressures of a presidency, we can’t have anyone else to question if they’re mentally fit to do it,” she explained.
His comments come after Trump said this at a campaign rally in New Hampshire: “By the way, they never report on the crowd on January 6th. You know, Nikki Haley, Nikki Haley, Nikki Haley, did you know they destroyed all the information? all the evidence, everything, erased and destroyed? Beyond confusing Haley with Pelosi, Trump’s claim that the House Speaker is responsible for the security of the US Capitol is not accurate, as CNN has previously verified.
“We need people at the top of their game,” Haley said in a Fox News interview, in which she added the following: “I’m not saying this is a Joe Biden situation, but what I am saying is: “Are we really going to have two eighty-year-olds running for president?”
In the days leading up to Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary, Haley, 52, has tried to highlight her age difference with Trump, 77, and President Joe Biden, 81. She has also been adamant about asking term limits and mental competency tests for any politician over 75 years of age.
