American journalist Barbara Walters dies at 93

American journalist and television presenter Barbara Walters died this Friday night at the age of 93 at her home in New York, as reported by ABC, where the journalist worked for a large part of her life. .

“I have sad news to share today. Barbara Walters has passed away tonight at her home in New York,” detailed the CEO of Walt Disney Co –ABC’s parent company–, Bob Iger.

Walters spent more than half a century in television, hosting NBC’s Today and ABC’s 20/20, as well as frequent specials like her annual “Top 10 Most Fascinating People.”

“Barbara was a true legend, a pioneer not only for women in journalism but for journalism itself. She was a unique reporter in her field who landed many of the most important interviews of our time,” Iger said in a statement.

Specifically, the journalist has a list of interviewees including all the presidents of the United States, from Richard Nixon to Barack Obama, as well as the Libyan Muammar Gadhafi and the Cuban Fidel Castro, on two occasions.
