The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has approved the declaration of a catastrophe in the state of Florida due to the passage of Hurricane ‘Nicole’, which began to form on November 7.
In a statement released by the White House, the US president has ordered the assistance of federal funds to supplement state, tribal and local response efforts to deal with the emergency conditions caused by the storm.
With this declaration, Biden has ordered the Administration of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security to make federal funds available to the affected people in the counties of Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Putnam, Saint Johns and Volusia.
It will also serve to provide grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the catastrophe.
Likewise, the federal financing will serve to mitigate the possible risks throughout the state in the event of upcoming hurricanes, as detailed by Biden in the letter.
