The National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) and the Navy of the Dominican Republic, supported by State Intelligence agencies and under the coordination of the Public Ministry, confiscated 509 packages, presumably cocaine, in the midst of a land interdiction operation, carried out in the Cumayasá coasts, San Pedro de Macorís province.
The anti-narcotics agents and military personnel, responding to intelligence reports, pursued several individuals who intended to introduce a significant amount of narcotic substances into Dominican territory in a speedboat (Type Go Fast).
Hours after intense monitoring and after reaching the shores of Manoleba beach, the tactical and reaction units surprised two Venezuelans and a Dominican aboard the boat of about 29 feet in length, without name or registration, with 17 bales. inside, containing the 509 packages of the substance.
In the joint operation, 18 fuel jugs, two outboard motors of 75 horsepower each, a satellite phone, two GPS, five cell phones and other evidence were also seized.
The DNCD, with the support of the Armed Forces, the Attorney General’s Office and other official agencies, have continued to attack national and international drug trafficking networks that try to use Dominican territory for their illicit activities.
The detainees are already in the hands of the Public Ministry of the province of San Pedro de Macorís, while investigations are deepened to arrest and bring to justice other members of this criminal network.
“We must emphasize that during this 2022, the Dominican authorities have seized more than 31 tons of cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, crack, among other controlled substances, figures that mark a before and after in the fight against drug trafficking”
The 509 packages seized in this new operation were sent under chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) to determine the exact type and weight of the substance.
