Trump promises amnesties to Capitol Hill assailants if he runs and wins the 2024 election

The former president of the United States Donald Trump has appeared again before his supporters to even promise amnesties to the participants in the assault on the Capitol in January of last year in the hypothetical case that he decides to run and win the 2024 elections.

Last year’s insurrection was led by hundreds of Trump supporters to try to invalidate the certification of the results of the November 2020 presidential election, in which the tycoon ended up defeated by the current president of the United States, Joe Biden.

So far, more than 725 people have been arrested in connection with the attack, of whom 165 have pleaded guilty and at least 70 have been convicted or are facing charges.

This past night, during a meeting in Texs, Trump has assured his supporters that he will treat the defendants “fairly” if he finally runs and ends up re-elected, according to statements collected by CNN.

“If I run, and if I win, I will treat the people of January 6 fairly. And if amnesties are needed, I will grant them. They have been treated with a lot of injustice,” said Trump, who at no time directly announced his intention to appear at the elections.
