The US asks its citizens not to travel to Afghanistan after its withdrawal

The United States Department of State has issued a level 4 travel alert for Afghanistan on Tuesday, which asks its citizens not to travel to the country, after its withdrawal from the Asian country and with the reconquest of power from the Taliban.

In the alert, published on the State Department website, the United States Government indicates the riots, the armed conflict, terrorism, the risk of being kidnapped and COVID-19 as reasons not to travel to Afghanistan.

“Traveling to all the areas that make up Afghanistan is not safe,” he stressed, before underlining that the risks for US citizens of being kidnapped or suffering violence are “high.”

The State Department has recalled that the US Embassy in Kabul has suspended its operations this Tuesday, but has guaranteed that it will continue to assist US citizens and their families living in Afghanistan from Doha, the capital of Qatar.
