MIAMI-DADE – Hundreds of schoolchildren are well-prepared for the upcoming school year after receiving free book bags and school supplies from County Commission Chairman Jose “Pepe” Diaz. The event took place July 31 in the Chairman’s Doral district office.
The book bag distribution is organized annually to assist District 12 families in need. Students received supplies such as paper, pencils, pens, folders and notebooks to start the school year off right. Chairman Diaz is thankful to everyone who made this year’s event possible, especially the Young Marines who volunteered.
“It can be difficult for families to afford back-to-school supplies, especially now for those struggling financially during the pandemic,” Chairman Diaz said. “Hopefully, readying students for school with these essential supplies keeps them on their path toward academic excellence.”
