The coronavirus pandemic already leaves more than 135 million infections worldwide

The coronavirus pandemic has already exceeded 135 million infections since the declaration of the crisis and continues to approach the threshold of three million deaths with more than 12,400 additional deaths in the last hours, according to data from Johns Hopkins University updated to this Sunday.

The agency has indicated through its website that during the last 24 hours 664,505 cases and 12,407 deaths have been detected, which places the totals at 135,467,026 and 2,929,837, respectively, while 77 million people have recovered so far from COVID-19.

The United States continues as the most affected country in total figures, with more than 31.1 million cases and 561,700 deaths. Behind are Brazil, with more than 13.4 million infections and more than 351,000 deaths, and India, with more than 13.3 million cases and more than 169,200 deaths, amid a rebound that has left record numbers during the last days.

For its part, Mexico is the third country in number of deaths, with more than 209,000 deaths, although it is in fourteenth place in the number of infections globally.

France, Russia and the United Kingdom are over four million cases, while between three and four million are Turkey, which has overtaken Italy in recent hours, and Spain. In the range between two and three million are Germany, Poland, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico and Iran.

Between one million and two million infections include Ukraine, Peru, the Czech Republic, Indonesia, South Africa, the Netherlands, Chile, Canada and Romania, which has exceeded one million infections this past Saturday. Belgium, Iraq, the Philippines, Sweden, Israel, Portugal, Pakistan, Hungary, Bangladesh, Jordan, Serbia, Switzerland, Austria, Japan and Morocco are between half a million and a million infections.

For their part, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have confirmed between 400,000 and 500,000 infections, while Saudi Arabia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Panama, Malaysia, Ecuador, Belarus and Kazakhstan have detected between 300,000 and 400,000 cases.

On the other hand, in the range between 200,000 and 300,000 cases are Greece, Croatia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Nepal, Tunisia, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Dominican Republic, Kuwait, Ireland, Moldova, Denmark, Paraguay, Ethiopia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Costa Rica, Egypt, Armenia and Guatemala.

Finally, in the group between 100,000 and 200,000 infections are Honduras, Qatar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Venezuela, Oman, Libya, Nigeria, Bahrain, Kenya, Burma, North Macedonia, Uruguay, Albania, Algeria, Estonia, Korea of the South, Latvia, Norway and China.

China, the country where the pandemic originated, has 102,040 infected and 4,843 fatalities, as the university’s balance sheet concludes.
