The pandemic already leaves more than 119 million infections worldwide

Brazil already registers more than 11 million infections surpasses India as the second country in the world with the most affected

The coronavirus pandemic has left almost 490,000 cases and nearly 10,000 deaths worldwide during the last 24 hours, after exceeding the 119 million infection barrier, according to the latest balance updated this Saturday by Johns Hopkins University.

The center has indicated through its website that during the last day 487,331 infections and 9,820 deaths have been confirmed, which places the totals at 119,060,652 and 2,639,456, respectively, with 67,397,962 people recovered from COVID- 19.

The United States is the country most affected in total figures, with 29.3 million cases and 532,590 deaths. Behind it is Brazil, which has overtaken India in the last hours. Both countries register some 11.3 million cases and although the South American country far exceeds India in deaths: 275,105 per 158,446 deaths.

For its part, Mexico is the third country in number of deaths, with 193,851, although it is in thirteenth place in the number of infections globally.

France has also joined Russia and the United Kingdom in the last few hours in the group of countries with more than four million cases, while Spain and Italy are between three and four million. In the range between two and three million are Turkey, Germany, Colombia, Argentina and Mexico.

Between one million and two million infections include Poland, Iran, South Africa, Ukraine, Indonesia, Peru, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands, while Canada, Chile, Romania, Israel, Portugal, Belgium, Iraq, Sweden, the Philippines, Pakistan, Switzerland, Bangladesh and Serbia are between half a million and a million infections.

Likewise, Hungary, Morocco, Austria, Jordan, Japan, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Lebanon have confirmed between 400,000 and 500,000 infections, while Saudi Arabia, Panama, Slovakia, Malaysia and Belarus have detected between 300,000 and 400,000 cases.

On the other hand, in the range between 200,000 and 300,000 cases are Ecuador, Bulgaria, Nepal, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Bolivia, Croatia, Dominican Republic, Tunisia, Azerbaijan, Ireland, Denmark, Greece, Costa Rica, Kuwait, Occupied Palestinian Territories , Lithuania and Moldova.

Finally, in the group between 100,000 and 200,000 infections are Slovenia, Egypt, Guatemala, Paraguay, Honduras, Armenia, Ethiopia, Qatar, Nigeria, Oman, Venezuela, Libya, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burma, Bahrain, Albania, Algeria , Kenya, North Macedonia and China.

China, the country where the pandemic originated, has 101,292 infected and 4,839 fatalities, as the university’s balance sheet concludes.
