Ayatollah Khamenei calls for “revenge” against Trump and threatens to bomb him wherever he is

The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Friday called for “revenge” against former US President Donald Trump and published a photograph on Twitter in which he seems to suggest a bombing against the former president.

“Revenge is inevitable. Soleimani’s murderer and the one who ordered Soleimani’s murder must suffer revenge,” he said through his account on the social network next to a photograph of a man similar to Trump playing golf under the shadow of an airplane or drone.

“Although Soleimani’s shoes are more honest than those of his murderer, they made a mistake and there must be revenge,” he said, before adding that Trump should know that “there can be revenge at any possible moment.”

Khamenei has thus reiterated that Iran will answer for the death of Qasem Soleimani, then head of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, in a bombing carried out by the United States in January 2020 at the airport in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday the entry into its ‘blacklist’ of several senior officials of the former US government, including Trump, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and former Defense Secretary Mark Esper, among others, for their participation in “terrorist acts” committed against the country and Iranian citizens.

The Iranian Prosecutor’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Trump in June 2020 for his role in the attack, in which Abu Mahdi al Muhandis, then ‘number two’ of the Popular Mobilization Forces (FMP) – a coalition, also died. of Iraqi pro-government militias backed by Iran.

Washington argued that it carried out the attack “to protect US personnel abroad,” in the wake of protests against its Embassy in Baghdad in protest of another bombing in which 25 members of the FMP were killed, an attack carried out in response to the death of a US contractor in a missile attack on a military base near Kirkuk.

The bombing in which Soleimani and Al Muhandis died caused a drastic increase in bilateral tensions and led Iran days later to attack several military bases also in Iraq, while the Iraqi Parliament approved a motion demanding the withdrawal of US troops from the country.
