Trump, after leaving the White House: “We will return in some way”

The outgoing president of the United States, Donald Trump, has left the White House on Wednesday, four hours before the inauguration of Joe Biden as the country’s new president, and has said goodbye to the Americans with a last speech in which, in addition to defending his administration, he has anticipated a possible political return: “We will return in some way.”

The White House had summoned the media at 8:00 a.m. (local time), at which time the helicopter landed next to the presidential building, in which Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, subsequently got on to say goodbye to what has been their home. for the past four years. Before embarking on ‘Marine One’, he told reporters that being the commander-in-chief of the United States has been “a great honor,” according to CNN.

The helicopter has taken him to Andrews Base in Maryland, where he has delivered his last speech as president, in which, again unscripted, he has defended the “amazing” work of his Administration. Trump himself has admitted that he has not led “a current Administration”, although he has done so to applaud the policies undertaken in different areas, from the military to the economic, even through the judicial or health.

Thus, he has expressed his condolences to the relatives of the people who died from coronavirus and stressed that, under his management, the “miracle” of having a vaccine against COVID-19 has been achieved within a period of nine months.

“Remember us”, he said, defending that, despite the “obstacles”, he has “given everything on the pitch”. “I will always fight for you. I will be watching. I will be listening,” added Trump, who wishes “great success” to the Biden government, as they “have the foundations to do something spectacular” over the next four years.

AN INVESTITURE WITHOUT THE OUTGOING PRESIDENT
Biden, for his part, has spent the night at the Blair House, the official guest residence in Washington. The day of the new president will start with a mass that will also be attended by his vice president, Kamala Harris, before the group travels to the headquarters of the North American Congress.

Unlike other inaugurations, Trump had already announced that he would not attend his successor’s and does not plan to have any meeting with him, after having repeatedly denounced fraud as a result of his defeat, without presenting evidence .

Despite this, the outgoing president already assured Tuesday in a video that he “prays” that the Biden Executive is “successful” in “keeping the United States safe and prosperous”, while rejecting the attack on the Capitol carried out by dozens of his supporters on January 6.

The assault took place during the vote in Congress to certify Biden’s victory in the presidential elections, something that took place after a postponement of several hours. Trump, who promised an “orderly” transition, will be subjected to a second impeachment – the first president in the country’s history to be subjected to two impeachments – for “inciting insurrection.”
