The coronavirus pandemic sets a record with more than 11,100 deaths and adds more than 610,000 new cases

It exceeds 55.6 million people infected with the United States, registering more than 161,000 positives in the last day

The new coronavirus pandemic accumulates more than 55.6 million cases worldwide after adding more than 610,000 infections and 11,115 deaths in the last 24 hours, which is the new daily record of deaths, according to the balance published this Wednesday by Johns Hopkins University.

Specifically, 610,220 new cases have been registered worldwide in the last day, while the global death toll stands at 1,338,668. More than 35.7 million people have managed to overcome the disease worldwide.

The United States has registered in recent days the worst case data of the entire pandemic and computes in this balance more than 161,000 positives, which accounts for 11.3 million infections in global terms. The fatalities from COVID-19 on US soil amount to 248,687.

India, on the other hand, has managed to reduce the rate of infections in recent weeks, although it already exceeds 8.9 million cases and accumulates 130,993 deaths. The Asian country is the one that has registered the most recoveries to date, more than 8.3 million.

Brazil remains in third position in this classification, which is configured based on data from 190 countries and territories with coronavirus cases. The South American giant has registered more than 5.9 million cases and 166,699 deaths.

In the fourth position, France has 2.08 million cases with 46,346 fatalities, while Russia has 1.95 million infected people and 34,068 deaths.

SPAIN EXCEEDS 1.5 MILLION CONTAGES
Spain is next, with more than 1.5 million cases and 41,688 fatalities, ahead of the United Kingdom, which has 1.41 million people with coronavirus and 52,839 deaths. Argentina is the second country with the most cases in Latin America, with 1.32 million infected, and accumulates 36,106 deaths from the disease.

Italy is also over one million positives, with 1.23 million infections and 46,464 deaths; Colombia, with 1.21 million positives and 34,381 fatalities; and Mexico, with 1.01 million positives and 99,026 deaths.

Next, Peru registers 938,268 infected people and 35,271 fatalities, compared to 843,757 infected and 13,138 deaths that are counted in Germany. Iran registers 778,473 cases and 42,461 deaths, while South Africa, the most affected country in Africa, registers 754,256 infected and 20,432 deaths.

Poland, which has chained several infection records in recent weeks, accumulates 752,940 cases of COVID-19 with 10,848 deaths, while Ukraine –586,254 positives and 10,424 deaths–, Belgium –540,605 infections and 14,839 deaths–, Chile –533,610 positives and 14,883 deaths – and Iraq –524,503 cases and 11,752 fatalities – also figure above the half million threshold.

With more than 400,000 positives are Indonesia, with 474,455 positives and 15,393 fatalities; Czech Republic, with 469,769 cases and 6,558 deaths; The Netherlands, with 464,205 infections and 8,689 deaths; Bangladesh, with 436,684 cases and 6,254 deaths; Turkey, with 421,413 positives and 11,704 deaths; and the Philippines, with 410,718 infected and 7,957 fatalities.

Already in the range of 300,000 infections are Romania (373,474); Pakistan (363,380), Saudi Arabia (353,918), Israel (325,537), Canada (309,877) and Morocco (301,604), while in the range of 200,000 to 300,000 infections are Switzerland (274,534), Portugal (230,124), Austria ( 214,597) and Nepal (211,475).

Above 100,000 positives are Sweden (192,439); Ecuador (181,104); Jordan (155,993); United Arab Emirates (152,809); Hungary (152,659); Panama (148,721); Bolivia (143,473); Kuwait (137,885); Qatar (136,222); Dominican Republic (134,697); Costa Rica (125,590); Kazakhstan (122,335); Japan (122,247); Oman (120,718); Armenia (120,459); Belarus (116,699); Guatemala (115,730); Egypt (111,284); Lebanon (107,953); Bulgaria (106,958); Honduras (103,488) and Ethiopia (103,395).

China, the country in which the pandemic originated, counts 91,885 infected and 4,742 fatalities.
