Jason Miller, campaign advisor to the hitherto US President Donald Trump, insisted on Monday that “admitting defeat is not even in his vocabulary right now.”
In an interview with the Fox News network, Miller stressed that the current White House tenant’s campaign will continue “by filing lawsuits and resorting to all possible counting methods” despite the fact that the Democratic candidate, Joe Biden, has been declared the winner of the elections.
“We will continue to expose and investigate all these cases of fraud and abuse to ensure that Americans can fully trust the results of these elections,” he said.
In recent days, Trump has refused to give victory to Biden and has reiterated that electoral fraud has occurred after the former vice president seized the state of Pennsylvania and achieved more than the 270 electoral votes necessary to win.
On Monday morning Biden had won 290 electoral votes compared to 214 for the New York magnate and the Democrat continues to lead in the traditionally Republican state of Georgia.
Trump, however, has gone ahead with the lawsuits and has again denounced that there has been fraud. Miller, for his part, explained that the electoral authorities will have to carry out a recount in Arizona and Georgia, something that could also happen in Wisconsin.
Likewise, the Trump campaign has summoned the entire team this Monday to draw up a strategy with an eye on “continuing to fight” against the electoral results, according to information from the newspaper ‘Politico’.
MCCONNELL DEFENDS TRUMP’S RIGHT TO APPEAL
The Republican Majority Leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, has defended the president’s right to challenge the election results in the courts of the United States.
“President Trump is 100% within his rights to claim and verify any accusation of wrongdoing, as well as to weigh his legal options in this regard,” he stated in the full Senate.
In what has been his first intervention since former Vice President Joe Biden was declared the winner of the elections, McConnell has asserted that he believes that Trump “has pending appeals in at least five states.”
Following the president’s own rhetoric, the Republican has said that “all legal votes must be counted, while illegal ones must be left out.”
