Twitter will warn about ‘tweets’ declaring a winner of the elections before the official results

The social network Twitter will tag with a warning the ‘tweets’ that declare one of the candidates for the United States elections as the winner of the elections before the official results are made public.

“At the beginning of the election night, we will tag some ‘tweets’ that are pronounced on the results of the elections,” has reported Twitter, ensuring that, in an event like this, “there may be significant problems with misleading information.”

As explained by the company in a post shared on its blog, the labels will be placed on the messages issued by the candidates themselves, Donald Trump and Joe Biden, their campaigns and other highly visible accounts, those that have more than 100,000 followers.

Likewise, messages that receive a large audience, which have been defined with 25,000 or more ‘retweets’, will be tagged. On the other hand, the company has stated that they will consider that the election result will be official when two national media declare a winner. The list includes ABC News, Associated Press, CBS News, CNN, Decision Desk HQ, Fox News and NBC News.

On Tuesday, Trump plays four more years in the White House against Joe Biden, who, however, is a favorite in the polls by about eight points.
