The coronavirus pandemic approaches 9 million cases with more than 468,000 deaths worldwide

The US adds more than 24,000 cases in the last 24 hours and exceeds 2.2 million positives with more than 119,000 deaths

The pandemic of the new coronavirus originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan has registered a total of 127,000 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 8.95 million infected people and more than 468,000 fatalities, according to the latest balance of Johns Hopkins University.

According to data updated at 9:30 am on Monday, the global balance of the coronavirus amounts to 8.95 million cases and 468,331 fatalities in 188 countries and territories. The total number of people recovered exceeds 4.43 million, with the United States at the top of the list, with 622,133 people cured.

The United States continues to be the country most affected by the pandemic with 2.27 million people infected and 119,969 fatalities, after registering 24,800 cases in the last 24 hours.

Brazil remains in second position with 1,083,341 infections and 50,591 deaths. Russia remains in third position, with 583,879 positives and 8,101 deaths.

INDIA EXCEEDS 425,000 CONTACTS
In fourth position, India has 425,282 infections and 13,699 deaths. Next, the United Kingdom registers 305,803 infected people and 42,717 deaths, ahead of Peru, with 251,338 and 7,861 compared to the 246,272 affected and 28,323 confirmed deaths in Spain.

After Spain, Chile has 242,355 people with coronaviruses and 4,479 deaths, while Italy accumulates 238,499 infected and 34,634 fatalities. Then, Iran already accumulates more than 200,000 cases (204,952 cases) and 9,623 deaths; France, with 197,008 infections and 29,643 fatalities, and by Germany, which registers 191,272 infections and 8,895 deaths.

Turkey has 187,685 people with coronaviruses and 4,950 deaths, followed by Pakistan, with 181,088 cases and 3,590 deaths, and Mexico, with 180,545 infected and 21,825 deaths.

Closing the group of more than 100,000 infections are Saudi Arabia, with 157,612 infected and 1,267 deaths, Bangladesh, with 112,306 sick and 1,464 fatalities, and Canada, with 103,078 cases and 8,482 deaths.

SOUTH AFRICA EXCEEDS 97,000 CONTACTS
Below the 100,000 positives, South Africa, with 97,302 cases and 1,930 deaths; Qatar, with 87,369 cases and 98 deaths, and China, the country where the pandemic originated, accumulates 84,572 cases with 4,639 deaths.

For its part, Colombia registers 68,836 infections and 2,353 deaths, compared to 60,550 cases and 9,696 deaths declared by the Belgian Government. Belarus, which accumulates 58,505 infections and 346 fatalities; Sweden, with 56,043 cases and 5,053 deaths; Egypt, with 55,253 infected and 2,193 deceased; and Ecuador, with 50,640 people with coronaviruses and 4,223 dead, close the list of countries with more than 50,000 cases.

Exceeding the 40,000 positives are the Netherlands, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Argentina and Singapore, while Kuwait, Portugal, Ukraine, Poland, Switzerland, Iraq and the Philippines accumulate more than 30,000 cases.

For their part, Oman, Afghanistan, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Ireland, Bolivia, Romania, Bahrain, Israel, Armenia and Nigeria exceed 20,000 coronavirus positives, ahead of Japan, Austria, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Ghana, Serbia, Guatemala, Honduras, Azerbaijan, Denmark, South Korea, Cameroon, Algeria and the Czech Republic, which have more than 10,000 infections.
