Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson donate blood for coronavirus vaccine research

After recovering from the coronavirus, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have donated their blood for the COVID-19 vaccine investigation, the actor revealed in a recent interview.

“The question is, what happens now? What do we do now? Is there something we can do? We actually just found out that we carry the antibodies,” Hanks said on the ‘Wait Wait * Don’t Tell Me!’ Podcast. from MSN. The interpreter, who announced that he and his wife had tested positive in March, is now participating in a medical study to see if his antibodies will be useful to scientists working on the vaccine.

“They have not only contacted us, we have said: ‘Do you want our blood? Can we give plasma?’ And in fact we will,” he explained. Hanks was in Australia shooting an Elvis Presley biopic directed by Baz Luhrmann when he confirmed his illness.

Hanks also said that Wilson’s symptoms were more severe than his own. “Rita had a more difficult illness than me. She had a much higher fever and other symptoms. She lost her sense of taste and smell,” he said.

Luhrmann also spoke to Deadline about the weather on the set of the film after the news broke. “If there was something good about it, I noticed that worldwide, and particularly in the United States, everyone suddenly felt it was real,” said the director.

The director said that he and the rest of the team were subjected to tests after knowing the positive of the protagonist. “Poor Tom and Rita, they were in the hospital and they put us in quarantine,” he lamented.
