The president of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, supported this Monday the candidacy for the White House of Joe Biden, of whom she said that “she will be an extraordinary president” both for his political experience and for his personal life, “personification of hope and courage”.
Pelosi, the highest-ranking Democrat in terms of political management in the United States, has published a video to formalize her support for Biden, who after Bernie Sanders’ withdrawal from the primaries has become Donald Trump’s virtual rival in the elections of November.
The head of the lower house has said of Biden that “she knows how to do the job” and recalled, among other experiences, her responsibility as number two of the Barack Obama Administration in the years of recovery from the 2008 financial crisis.
“Now that we are dealing with the coronavirus, Joe has been a voice of good sense and resilience, with a clear path to get us out of this crisis,” said Pelosi, who also pointed out that Biden has enough “humility” to lean on “experts and in science “if you do not know a topic.
“Now more than ever we need a forward-looking, seasoned leader who fights for the people. A president with values, experience and strategic thinking to unite the nation and build a better and fairer world for our children,” added.
Pelosi is confident that, with Biden in the White House and a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate – the Upper House is currently controlled by the Republicans -, it can move forward for the “progress” of all citizens North American.
