More than 8,900 dead and more than 218,000 infected worldwide by the coronavirus pandemic

The United States overtakes South Korea and France and stands with nearly 10,000 infected people

The pandemic of the new coronavirus originated in the city of Wuhan, in the province of Hubei, in central China, has left more than 218,000 people infected and has killed more than 8,900 people worldwide, with Spain located as the fourth most affected country, with more than 14,700 cases.

According to the global balance updated at 10:30 am by Johns Hopkins University, the new coronavirus pandemic has spread to more than 160 countries and territories, leaving a total of 218,827 infected people and 8,939 fatalities. The number of people who have been cured of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, amounts to 84,122.

China remains the most affected country, with more than 81,139 people infected and 3,249 fatalities, with a total of 70,530 people cured. Italy continues in second position, with 35,713 infections, 2,978 fatalities and 4,025 people healed.

Iran is the third country most affected by the new coronavirus, with 17,361 cases, 1,135 deaths and 5,389 people cured. Spain ranks as the fourth most affected country in the world, with a total of 14,769 infections, 638 deaths and 1,081 people cured, according to data updated at 10:30 am on Tuesday.

Germany ranks as the fifth most affected country, with 12,327 infected people, 28 deceased and 105 cured people. The United States is the sixth country in number of cases, after overtaking South Korea and France, adding 9,415 cases, with 150 fatalities and 106 people recovered.

France accumulates a total of 9,055 cases of coronavirus, with 243 fatalities and twelve people recovered, followed by South Korea, which for several weeks became the country with the most infections in the world after China and which now has the outbreak in a situation almost controlled, with 8,565 positives, 91 deaths and 1,540 people cured.

Switzerland records 3,067 positive cases and 33 deaths, followed by the United Kingdom, with 2,644 cases and 104 deaths. The Netherlands, for its part, accumulates 2,056 positive cases, with 59 fatalities. Austria, Norway, Belgium, Sweden and Denmark complete the list of countries with more than a thousand infected people.
