“I have always treated the Chinese virus very seriously and I have done a very good job from the beginning,” Trump said, defending his administration, emphasizing the order to “close the borders” with China, referring to the suspension of flights. . “Many lives were saved,” he said on Twitter.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang tainted Trump on Tuesday with his repeated allusions to the “Chinese virus” as they believe there is a “will to stigmatize” behind it. “We are very outraged,” Geng said at a press conference, according to the official Xinhua News Agency.
“We urge the United States to immediately correct its mistakes and stop making unfounded accusations against China,” said the Foreign Ministry spokesman, who urged Washington to play a constructive role in eradicating this pandemic.
China, the supposed origin of the virus, remains the most affected country, with more than 80,000 infections and 3,000 fatalities.
