Trump guarantees that Iran will never become a nuclear power

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, said Monday that Iran will never become a nuclear power after the Islamic Republic announced on Sunday the cessation of its restrictions on the production and national enrichment of uranium.

“Iran will never have a nuclear weapon!” Trump wrote, in capital letters on his Twitter account.

The Iranian government yesterday staged a virtually definitive departure from its commitments to the pact by announcing the end of the restrictions, partly in retaliation for the death of the powerful Iranian general Qasem Solemaini last Friday during a US attack in the capital of Iraq Baghdad

However, and according to the same statement, the Iranian Government reiterated its commitment to the International Atomic Energy Agency and promises to re-comply with the terms of the nuclear agreement if the United States withdraws all existing sanctions and guarantees its interests.

The United States decided to restore sanctions against Iran in 2018 after its unilateral withdrawal from the 2015 Comprehensive Joint Action Plan (PIAC) nuclear agreement.

In response, and after denouncing the lack of help from the other signatory countries to overcome the economic punishment imposed by the United States, Iran decided last July to initiate a gradual disconnection of the various commitments adopted in the pact.
