Islamic State leader, Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, dies during a US military operation in Syria

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Sunday that the leader of the jihadist organization Islamic State, Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, has died during an operation executed on Saturday by the special forces of the US Army in the Syrian town of Barisha, in the province of Idlib, near the border with Turkey.

“Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi is dead,” said the US president.

Al Baghdadi was immolated with an explosive vest during the assault, executed jointly by between 50 and 70 troops of the Delta Force and the Rangers of the United States Army, against the residential complex in which he was located, less than five kilometers from The border with Turkey.

The operation also involved six combat helicopters that departed from Erbil, the capital of the Iraqi Kurdistan region.

The US operatives successfully identified the face of Al Baghdadi, which was not hit by the explosion of the vest, according to US military sources. To finish verifying the identity of the terrorist leader, DNA tests will be used, the results of which will be known within 24 hours.

The operation has not left the US ranks, as confirmed by the US Department of Defense sources in principle, also to Fox News.
