San Juan, .- The federal prosecutor has asked the Puerto Rican judge Gustavo Gelpí, a sentence of 16 months in prison for the Puerto Rican reggaeton Carlos Reyes Rosado, better known as Farruko, accused of not declaring $ 51,802 in cash before the federal customs in the San Juan International Airport.
He is also accused of smuggling money that the artist had hidden in his luggage and his shoes upon his arrival on the island, being detained on April 2, 2018 on the return of a work trip from the Dominican Republic.
Farruko pleaded guilty in March.
The recommendation was included in a memorandum from the head of the federal prosecutor’s office in San Juan, Rosa Emilia Rodriguez, 24 hours after the hearing on the case this Thursday, published on Wednesday.
The prosecution considers that the offenses are “serious” and that by pleading guilty the defendant “accepted that he intended to violate the law.”
All this “knowing that he hid 51,802 in the templates, inside his shoes, inside his luggage” when traveling from the Dominican Republic to Puerto Rico.
“Intentionally and knowingly lied when he filled out the declaration form,” Rodriguez’s document points out.
In turn, the prosecution indicated that the “vast experience and reputation” of Reyes on international travel related to his work is “more palpable” his “intention to violate the law.”
“Precisely because of his fame, his business and continuous international travel, this defendant is more aware of the requirements reports than a regular civilian who embarks on international travel once every several years,” he added.
In turn, he points out that the singer “now presents excuses for his illegal behavior in an attempt to make the court impose a sentence below the recommended when the reality is that he committed two crimes,” according to the document .
On April 26, Farruko released his new album, “Gangalee”, which includes tracks like “La cartera” with Bad Bunny, “Borinquen Bella” with Pedro Capó, Justin Quiles and Zion & Lennox, “Playa” with Kafu Banton and El Micha, “Calma” (Remix) with Pedro Capó and Alicia Keys, “Delinquent” with Anuel AA and Kendo Kaponi), “Tension” with Zion and Lennox, among others.
Farruko has the agenda to appear in July at several festivals in Europe and then in August he will resume his tour “Gangalee” with acts in the United States. (EFEUSA)
