“Con Calma” by Daddy Yankee, reaches 1,000 million views on YouTube

The music video for “Con Calma” by Puerto Rican reggaeton singer Daddy Yankee and Canadian rapper Snow has surpassed 1,000 million hits on YouTube, while the song has reached number one in sales at iTunes Latino Charts in more than 50 countries.

Similarly, the music video is the first to reach the figure of 1,000 million reproductions on the channel this year, reported Thursday the representatives of Daddy Yankee from San Juan in a press release.

This new record of Daddy Yankee is added to those achieved with the singles “Despacito”, “Dura” and “Shaky Shaky”, which also recorded millionaire digital reproductions.

Recorded between the cities of Los Angeles and Toronto, the video was directed by the Dominican Marlon Peña.

The original version of “Con Calma” has been described by music critics as the biggest international song of 2019.

“Con Calma” is inspired by the song “Informer” (1992), from Snow’s repertoire, which reached the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 list.

With the audiovisual proposal, Daddy Yankee wanted to go back to his adolescence to create “a unity between the past and the present with the energy and freshness that music and dance carried in those times”.

On the other hand, the single of “Con Calma” reached the first position in sales in Latin iTunes in more than 50 countries, among them, Japan, Germany, France, India, Sweden, Portugal, Turkey, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Slovenia and Hungary.

In the same way, the song has been placed at the top in 19 countries and for seven consecutive weeks it has remained in the first position of the list of “Hot Latin Songs” by Billboard magazine.

Also, in Argentina, Daddy Yankee, self-styled “the boss” of the reggaeton, broke the record by staying for 10 consecutive weeks in the first place on the card.

The theme, likewise, has become the song “Most-Streamed” in the Deezer listings and in the first place in the global listings of Shazam.

And before the great worldwide success, Daddy Yankee played the song on March 20 on the television show “The Late Late Show with James Corden”, making it the first presentation in Spanish on that program.

On this historic participation, the prestigious Rolling Stone magazine highlighted: “Daddy Yankee took the nightclub to the stage on The Late Late Show with his vibrant interpretation of the song ‘Con Calma'”.

In 2018, Daddy Yankee made history with 10 Guinness Book Book titles for his achievement as the first Latino artist to reach the top spot on the Spotify playback platform.

After the original version, on April 19 a “remix” (remix) of “Con Calma” was released with the American singer Katy Perry.
Later, Daddy Yankee and Perry performed together for the first time in the last episode of the American Idol competition of ABC.
