Guadalajara (Mexico), .- The defender Carlos Salcedo, member of the Mexican team at the 2018 World Cup, recognized on Tuesday that he has not recovered from a knee discomfort and his participation in the Gold Cup is at stake.
“I have a knock on the knee and I will be valued when I reach the concentration,” revealed Salcedo, who spent this year’s German Eintracht Frankfurt to the UANL Tigres of Mexican soccer, which on Saturday won the Clausura 2019 tournament title.
Salcedo explained this Tuesday in Guadalajara that he has kept in communication with the coach of the national team, the Argentine Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, and will only travel to the Cup if he is healthy.
“I will be honest and good for myself and the national team (if I’m not well), I will not cover a place and I will leave that position to someone one hundred percent,” he said.
Mexico resumed its concentration in Mexico City on Monday with injuries from two other World Cups, forward Hirving Lozano of PSV Eindhoven and defender Miguel Layún of Rayados de Monterrey.
Before Mexico began to train without four of its main figures who were in Russia in 2018, strikers Javier Hernández, of West Ham English, Carlos Vela, of Los Angeles FC of MLS, and Jesus Manuel Corona, of Portuguese Porto, and midfielder Héctor Herrera, about to sign with Atlético de Madrid, who refused to play with El Tri.
