Rosalía sneaks into the 10 best songs of 2019 of Time with “Con altura”

New York, .- The song “Con altura” by the Spanish singer Rosalía and the Colombian reggaeton J Balvin was selected by Time magazine as one of the best so far in 2019, thanks to its mix of dembow, hip-hop and flamenco.

The publication highlights the “chameleon” Rosalía and her handling of different styles, which has allowed her to perform well in Balvin’s song “that sounds like the future of pop music on a global scale”.

The other nine chosen include songs by Mark Ronson (“Late Night Feelings”), Lizzo (“Juice”), the Jonas Brothers (“Sucker”), the Brazilian Anitta (“Rosa”) or a collaboration of Lil Nas X and the country singer Billy Ray Cyrus.

“When I was younger I loved listening to reggaeton and it would have been totally natural to have made a song like this before, but I do not like to force things,” the artist explained in statements collected by Sony Music when the “single” was released.

In them, Rosalía describes this song as “a pop rhythm from Barcelona-US-Latin”, which was born “a few months ago in a studio in Miami” from an extract of Dominican music on which Frank Dudes and El Guincho worked.

The singer closed her acclaimed American tour of “El mal querer” at the beginning of the month, her last album, which led her to debut at the renowned Coachella festival and also in cities like New York, where she performed two nights.

His European tour will start in his native Catalonia, with a first concert on June 1 at the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, one of the main attractions of the event, where he will also be accompanied by the king of reggaeton.

The last concert of the tour is planned to be at the Gurtenfestival in Bern (Switzerland) on July 18, although it will first pass through Bilbao, Paris, Glastonbury (United Kingdom) or Madrid (EFEUSA).
