In the duel between the teams with the best marks in the Central Division of the National League, the Cubs won two consecutive victories and secure themselves in the leadership of that group.
The ninth in Chicago has the advantage of two games over the Brewers sub-leaders.
The Cubs closed a home stay with a winning record of 8-2.
Lester (3-1) allowed nine hits, one run, gave one base and retired six batters per punch and got the win.
Bryant (8) took the ball out of the field in the seventh with a teammate ahead.
Puerto Rican shortstop Javier Báez had two hits and extended his batting streak to 11 games.
