Mexico, .- The Mexican singer Vicente Fernandez, a figure of ranchera music, refused to receive a liver transplant for fear that the donor was homosexual or drug addict, reported Wednesday the Mexican newspaper Excelsior.
“They wanted to put a liver of another bastard and I told them: ‘I’m not going to sleep with my wife with the liver of another guy, I do not know if he was a homosexual or a drug addict,'” the singer told the program First Hand of the group Imagen , to which the aforementioned newspaper belongs.
The Mexican interpreter pointed out that in the framework of a world tour he was in Houston (Texas, United States), when in a medical examination he was detected a pellet in both bile ducts that was cancer and had to suspend his journey.
Due to this illness, on May 2 last, he was told that it was necessary to undergo surgery, by transplant, and that for his fortune, the medical team got the liver quickly, in two days.
The 79-year-old Mexican singer confirmed that he decided not to undergo the surgery and left the Houston hospital even though the liver was ready for the transplant.
“They did not want to let me out, they told me: We already found their liver compatible, the oncologist is coming,” the singer said in the interview, which was made at his ranch located in the Mexican state of Jalisco.
Then, Fernandez told the image journalist that he decided to get dressed and leave the hospital when they told him to please use a wheelchair.
“Please, Don Vicente, get out of the wheelchair, because if something happens, they close the hospital.” I got on the chair and when the truck arrived I left, “he recalled.
The Mexican singer said that he was finally submitted to a successful surgery and that he is currently in good health condition, since he weighs 110 kilos and has dropped to 80 kilos.
In August 2018, Vicente Fernández released his album “Más romántico que nunca”, the first record since he retired from the stage in 2016.
In this album, the idol of the ranchera song includes nine boleros and three rancheras, headed by the hit “En la jail de tu farewell”.
